Applications of Triple-encentirc Metal to Metal Butterfly Valve

Steam system

The triple-eccentric butterfly valve is suitable for medium like steam or condensate with varies pressures and temperatures ranging from low pressure saturated steam less than 1 MPa pressure to superheated steam of 10 MPa pressure.

Petrochemical industry

The triple-eccentric metal to metal butterfly valve is suitable for processing applications in petrochemical industry, including the transportation of smoke, smoke medium with impurities, hard particle catalyst, etc. For example, in an oil refinery unit, the triple-eccentirc metal to metal butterfly valve has been successfully applied in the following process:

- Used as inlet and outlet venting valves on the pipeline for the main blower in the FCC(Fluid catalytic cracking) process of refinery.
- Used as inlet and outlet venting valves on the pipeline for the air compressor in the FCC(Fluid catalytic cracking) process of refinery.
- Used as inlet and outlet valves for the pump of slurry oil (P < 4.0MPa, T < 400 Celsius).
- Used as flue gas inlet and bypass. (P < 0.3MPa, T< 700 Celsius).
- Used as decoking valves with steam blower in the low-pressure steam pipeline. The decoking valve at the outlet of the pipeline in refinery cracking furnace is extremely strict. The valve is located on the high-temperature pipeline between the outlet of cracking furnace and inlet of quench furnace, which has a medium contains carbon granules. Carbon granules may accumulate on the sealing surfaces and cause the valve fail to close, and need to be blown away by steam blower.
- Steam jacketed triple-eccentric metal to metal butterfly valve is required to control the flow of medium like high-viscocity asphalt, fuel oil, or materials that need to be transported in molten state such as sulfur.
- Lining triple-eccentric metal to metal butterfly valve is required to control the flow of high-temerpareture flue gas from the catalytic furnace.
- The PSA hydrogen production requires a high frequency of open-dose alternations on valves without any leakage, thus the triple-eccentric metal to metal butterfly valve becomes the preferred choice for this process.
- Due to the high risk of LNG leakage, it is more reliable to use triple-eccentirc metal to metal butterfly valve as the main valve for inlet and outlet of liquefied petroleum gas storage tank.
- The triple-eccentric metal to metal butterfly valve with cooling fins is suitable for cryogenic service like the process of gas separation or other petrochemical production.
- In industrial production, some conditions require absolute zero leakage. In the past, a stub with one shut-off valve at each end and a check valve in the middle or a trunnion mounted ball valve with check valve is widely used in this case. Now, the same result can be achieved by using our new patented butterfly valve with a check valve more efficiently.

- In metallurgical industry, the steel rolling process requires the steel being heated before rolling, triple-eccentric butterfly valve fits well in controlling the furnance gas; blow oxygen or nitrogen in convert steelmaking, emergency venting of furnace blower. Today, it is still difficult to control and utilize the waste gas of domestic furnances due to excess leakage of hot gas from hot blast valve. This problem may be solved by using triple-eccentric butterfly valves instead of regular hot blast valves.
- In alumina industry, triple-eccentric metal to metal butterfly valve has been applied for recycling, and it is proved that the triple-eccentirc metal to metal butterfly valve has better performance as shut-off valve in the molten salt heating system.
- Triple-eccentric metal to metal butterfly valve is worth trying in cases where it is difficult to use traditional gate valve or other type of valves.
